AIOU-Reappear Policy Rules

Updated Reappear Policy 2023

Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has released an updated policy regarding reappear exams called Final Exam Reappear (FER). They've made some changes to the previous policy from autumn 2021 to make things easier for students:

1. Before applying for a reappear, students must have less than 40 marks in the course i.e. < 40 marks in Final exam and all the other components like assignments etc passed

2. To pass, students still need to score 50% in each component as well as in final exam and even in aggregate. (depends on program passing criteria).

3. If a student scores less than 40, they must register for a reappear within announced dates available within students 'My grades'  option in CMS. For reappear registration (when announced) they have to use their CMS portal -> Course Registration link from the link: https://enrollment.aiou.edu.pk/

4. If student after availing the FER1 get the passing marks in the course the students will be passed. And if he/she again score <40 marks in final exam they'll get FER2.

5. Now third chance in FER is available; however if students availed their both chances and still got failed, then he/she need to register his course as fresh.

6. After registering, they won't need to prepare new assignments or attend workshops however.

This policy change aims to benefit students. If a student fails twice, they'll need to register for the course again and complete assignments and workshops if required.

For certain phases like 10th grade, F.A., and B.A., there are no workshops. Assignments for these phases are done on paper and sent to tutors via mail. If the first assignment isn't sent on time, both assignments can be sent together before the final submission date.
